Last weekend, we joined the top food truck vendors Scotland has to offer at Edinburgh’s first street food yard. The Pitt’s launch event was a rousing success: 1000s of eaters made the trek to Leith/Newhaven to enjoy a craft beer bar, live music, a festive atmosphere – complete with fire pits – and, of course, the city’s best street food selection. The event ran all day with kids and their parents enjoying the festival in the afternoon and revellers moving in once the darkness hit. All of the attendees voiced their excitement at the idea of a street food centric event in Edinburgh, which bodes well for the Pitt’s plans to become a regular event in the Spring.
Our menu was a combination of crowd favourites and experimental dishes – which sold like hotcakes:
Bangers and Belly – bite sized crispy pork belly and pork & sage stuffing topped with a smoky aioli.
Irish Pakora – deep fried potato and venison with a red pepper and tomato chutney, salad and seasonal slaw
Mussel and Smoked Haddock Chowder
Curried Parsnip Soup
Pumpkin Pie – made with pumpkins out of the FreshRev garden
We can’t wait for the next instalment of the Pitt in 2016!
